Brad Paisley Conquers New Frontier
Dating back to the “Celebrity” video, Brad Paisley’s developed a running friendship with former “Star Trek” actor William Shatner, which created a weird moment in Brad’s household a year ago.
Shatner had a movie in the Nashville Film Festival, and when he went to Music City, Brad invited him out to visit at the farm. And William apparently had a pretty good time.
“One of the strangest things I’ve ever seen,” Brad told CultureMap.com. “I came home from the recording studio, and [he] was already over at the house, playing with my two-year-old son in the basement — with light sabers. I walked in to see my son and Captain Kirk, dueling with light sabers. I looked over at my wife, and asked, ‘What the hell kind of bizarre universe have I just walked into here?’”

Danny Gokey, Easton Corbin Living Parallel Lives
Danny Gokey and Easton Corbin are very different kinds of singers, but they find themselves on very similar paths.
Easton is a traditional-country vocalist in the vein of George Strait and Alan Jackson, while Danny is a pop-country singer who built an audience on last year’s “American Idol.” Now they’re both competing for attention as new artists with their first albums in release — and those two albums came out on the exact same day.
As it turns out, Danny and Easton each celebrated the same way: They went to the store to buy their own CDs.

Baby No. 2 for Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney!
Congratulations to Rascal Flatts‘ Joe Don Rooney and wife Tiffany Fallon, who announced via People magazine that they’re expecting their second child.
“We’re a little more prepared but the same excitement is there,” says Joe Don, already dad to 21-month-old son Jagger Donovan. “There’s such fulfillment in being a father and it’s going to be two-fold now, which is so cool.”

LeAnn Rimes, Dwight Yoakam, Miley Cyrus Make Movie News
Ryan Bingham earned a lot of attention for country music when he picked up an Oscar award for the theme from Crazy Heart this weekend, but he’s hardly alone among country recording artists participating in current film projects.
LeAnn Rimes, Dwight Yoakam and Miley Cyrus all have roles in titles that are on the way. Tim McGraw just finished working on another film, and Taylor Swift has racked up more sales for her work on a recent soundtrack.

Alan Jackson Mulls His Future in Music
This week is a significant milestone for Alan Jackson: It marks 20 years since “Here In The Real World” climbed into the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Since then he’s landed more than 50 titles in the Top 10, literally taking him from rags to riches.
Alan was one of the first artists to break through after Arista Records opened its country division, and he’s been with the label ever since, although it appears those days are numbered. What the future holds for him remains to be seen.

George Strait, Carrie Underwood Have Faith In Albums
Easter falls this year on April 4, and if that holiday motivates a little spiritual consideration, a couple of new music compilations have been put together to aid your connection to the Almighty.
One’s a country-specific collection that rolls George Strait, Keith Urban and Josh Turner in among a dozen hitmakers. The other drops Carrie Underwood into an ongoing pop series that places her alongside the likes of Daughtry, Natasha Bedingfield and The Fray.
The country-centered collection, Sunday In The Country: 12 Inspiring Hits From Today’s Top Country Artists, is being released by New Haven Records with proceeds benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Diamond Rio, Trace Adkins and Tracy Lawrence all contribute tracks to the project, which extends a country-gospel tradition.
